Mongoose Publishing got its start late in February 2001 in the UK. After reviewing the burgeoning d20 market, the company decided it needed to do something special to break into the market. Since most of the d20 market was producing adventures, they decided to produce a 32-page single monster guide. They chose Hobgoblins for their first book because they are so over looked in D&D game.
